Meet Latasha

Engaging the community is always a priority at Ready Freddy and luckily we have Latasha, a Community Outreach intern working directly with Medina Jackson, our Community Organizer. Latasha was previously a preschool teacher, so she offers a unique insight for the community members she comes into contact with. She says, “During my career, I have witnessed the significance of a caregiver’s engagement in their child’s academics.  The Ready Freddy program enables us to connect these families to the proper resources and tools that allow their children to excel.  This connection also brings support throughout the transition into Kindergarten.”

For any of those wondering if it’s valuable to reach out, Latasha says, “it is so rewarding to advocate for the children in our community.  Community involvement is extremely crucial for the advancement and readiness of our precious 5 year olds.   Community Outreach has allowed us to connect with faith based organizations, businesses, early childhood centers and more, helping prepare children for Kindergarten.”

As for why she has joined our team, she adds, “I have a passion for helping children excel.  I believe that every child deserves the best educational experience available.  One of the major focuses that most excites me about Ready Freddy, is the approach to parent and family involvement… It is a privilege to be a part of a program that is positively impacting the community through its approach and strive for academic success.”

Check out our Materials page for schools and communities to see how you can help children and families with enrollment, transition, and attendance in your school.
